The Vial of Life Project

We proudly offer Vial of Life decals to our community for free. We feel that the Vial of Life Project is a most important program for protecting seniors and others in need.

We would like to thank American Senior Safety Medical Alarm Systems for
donating these kits to our organization.

HOT! CPR & Basic First Aid Classes

We are prepared to offer CPR Certification Courses and some basic first aid training for citizens in the District. Understanding that the short time between calling 911 and our arrival are critical minutes and immediate action by a trained individual could mean the difference between life, death or more severe permanent disability. This training is sanctioned and certified through the American Heart Association by experienced instructors who will conduct the training. We will offer two different courses, one for health care professionals and the other for people other than medical personnel. The following applies for each course of instruction:

  • Medical Personnel:

    • Certification Card: $5.00 (required)
    • Manual: $12.00 (NOTE: We can provide manuals for course completion, this charge only applies if you want your own manual - Recommended. This is available at OUR cost, no markup.)
    • Pocket Mask: $10.00 (required, our cost). A pocket mask allows you to administer CPR without having skin-on-skin contact with the victim.
    • Cost: Max - $27.00; Min - $15.00. This training elsewhere costs $75.00 to $100.00; our instructors DO NOT charge for their time.

  • Entry Training: Covers CPR, use of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) and First Aid.

    • Certification Card: $3.00 (required)
    • Manual: $15.00 (NOTE: We can provide manuals for course completion, this charge only applies if you want your own manual - Recommended. This is available at OUR cost, no markup.)
    • Pocket Mask: $10.00 (required, our cost). A pocket mask allows you to administer CPR without having skin-on-skin contact with the victim.
    • Cost: Max - $28.00; Min - $13.00. This training elsewhere costs $75.00 to $100.00; our instructors DO NOT charge for their time.

Class size is 10-12 persons and the duration is eight hours which can be conducted on a Saturday or two 4 hour classes at night during the week. We will compile a list of names at the department with attendees being selected or scheduled on a first come - first served basis. Call the station, 848-4107 between 9:00 & 5:00 weekdays or email any Commissioner or the Webmaster.

New Equipment At Little Expense

First, a few words about grants. Regardless of how you feel about grants and how they are administered, the program benefits organizations such as ours greatly and, in fact, saves the district significant sums of money all while providing us with modern and effective equipment to respond to the many emergency situations we're called upon to accomplish. Two recent examples are:

  • Grant for $25,000.00 to be used for new Automatic External Defibrillators and turn out gear.

  • Grant for $29,450.00 for replacing our aged and inefficient extraction equipment.

Social Hall Rentals

Just as a reminder, the Social Hall is available for rent by individuals, groups, or organizations for gatherings or meetings. Facilities include the main hall and use of the kitchen if desired. Anyone interested should contact the Department or print a copy of the application.

Free Smoke Detector Program

Smoke detectors save lives and is one of the most important pieces of equipment you can have in your home. They protect you and your family and require little maintenance. We provide one detector per family per floor of house. So, come to the Department and get yours today; it could save your life!

Request for Tours

Tours of the Department are always welcome and fun for us and especially for youngsters. And, we sometimes get requests from older youth groups/schools as part of career day. To be sure you and your groups are always welcome but to ensure we provide the best experience possible we need some lead time and information prior to your visit.
